This is the first card in the super tough 1962 Topps set, and it might be Roger Maris'' most important card. While this is not his rookie card, the 1962 Topps Maris captures the Yankee legend at his peak. Maris is, naturally, known for his great 1961 campaign when he battled Mickey Mantle in a home run chase, eventually surpassing Babe Ruth on the final day of the season with home run number 61. This condition sensitive card, which is surrounded by fragile brown borders, commemorates that season with the 1961 statistics along the reverse of the card.
