c1970 Modernist Japanese Woodblock Print
Overview: Up for sale is a small woodblock print by acclaimed Japanese print artist, Haku Maki (1924-2000). In 1970, Felix Juda, a super-collector who was close with Onchi, commissioned Maki to make a series of card prints through the Red Lantern Shop in Kyoto. This print is one of those that were commissioned. This shows the Kanji for "Fish" in Japanese on a yellow background with a blue sun. This print is tipped to a backing card which indicates it was commissioned by Juda. The print is titled (with the Kanji) at center, signed Haku Maki at lower right and numbered (99/250).The print and backing card are in excellent condition.
Measurements: Print measures approximately 4.75 inches wide x 4.75 inches high. Backing card measures 5.6875 inches wide x 5.75 inches high.
