Lot of 3 old postcards, St Louis Cardinals, baseball, NOT reprint
These three postcards were in a baseball themed scrapbook compiled by Sgt. Shirley L Watt. There are other photos and newspaper clippings in the book of Sgt. Watt on his high school baseball team. (Although at that time it seems "base ball" was spelled as two separate words.)The two sepia-toned Hall of Fame cards were given to Sgt. Watt by his father, Roy, in July of 1945.
The blue card depicts the 1936 St Louis Cardinals roster. The team was known as "The Famous Gas House Gang." You can see Sgt. Watt made notes in 1939 of all the players who were no longer on the team, writing "Gone" below their portraits. This postcard is original, linen, and NOT a reprint.
You can see in the photos that all three postcards show signs of their age, and evidence of being part of Sgt. Watt''s baseball scrapbook.
I''ll ship these packed up very carefully in a stiff bubble mailer. Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks for taking a look!
